My Country Decides We'll All Eat Corn and Drink Garri
February 25th was the chosen date for Nigerians to elect their new leaders on a secret ballot using ink and thumb.
it is regrettable that some do not even know their voting unit. INEC an organization in charge of monitoring and enforcing our country's choice decisions were not prepared enough despite having 4 years to make a plan and more than a hundred billion spent to guarantee the election free and fair.
Some citizens were left in limbo, some polling units were hijacked by thugs and gun shot into the air, some INEC officers and some unpatriotic Nigerian police were also caught in a state of voter fraud by fingerprinting the ballot paper while the citizens waited on the side out in a long line to exercise their right to vote.
In Kogi state, a college graduate who had just completed his NYSC, a mandatory year-long service a graduate does to give back to his country, was shot dead after joining political thugs to hijack the ballot box, a white container were citizens who successfully passed the accreditation process enter their choices of leaders which will be separated and counted to know the political party that won in the voting unit.
INEC promised citizens to display a transparent election by displaying the result of each voting unit on a portal using BVAS and where citizens could see it, but unfortunately the INEC official dashed hope after an official statement saying that the portals were down due to some issues and all results will be uploaded offline.
A party agent also complained at a collation center in Lagos that one of his party agents had annexed an area where he was forced to sign a fraudulent result at gunpoint. Some recruited Ad-hoc staff by the INEC were sent to carried out assignment without security and those with security were even beaten by thugs who disrupted the election process.
Many of these parties comes with different hope, some wanted an infrastructure, others wanted a food nation of corn and Garri, others wanted power while still vying for the highest office.
The Nigerians decided, but the decision was quite fearful. Some results came out even before the election date. But above all, one must be elected as the next president to rule the country, whether it favors one's party or not. The most voted would win. And yes Tinubu of Lagos won and it is unbelievable that the president of the people's social networks assume the third role.
Regardless of what would have happened, Nigerians are known to be the strongest and we adjust quickly to difficult situations. But the question that bothers many is: how can the same political party that got us to the state we were in, be the same party that wanted to save us? We vote for the individual or we vote for political parties.
